About the Book:
For Jack Cho, a fortysomething gay man, being able to marry someone he loves is so unfamiliar it’s terrifying. Then a wedding invitation from a college friend brings about a collision with those fears—and his own secret history. Jack and his new boyfriend, Caleb, are attending the wedding of Jack’s estranged straight friend Scott. No sooner do the guests start to mingle than questions arise about relationships, tradition, Jack’s feelings for the groom, and what’s at stake as he navigates daunting territory, both new and old. In this wry and surprising short story, award-winning author Alexander Chee extends an invitation to the party—and awakening—of a lifetime.

While there is much about this short story that is universal, the story stays squarely in its lane. At its heart, this tale is about how we forge relationships between lovers and parents and children and colleagues and friends. A tale of this caliber should be shared and read by anyone who appreciates a good story that is beautifully written.

Mr. Chee's writing was magical, this was a wonderful reading experience that was truly a delight. Oftentimes fiction gets at a truth better than nonfiction and this is a fascinating and heart-rending tale made ever richer through Alexander Chee's gorgeous prose.

Thank you NetGalley, Alexander Chee and Amazon Original Stories for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an impartial review; all opinions are my own.
