About the Book:
Lila Bennett’s bad choices have finally caught up with her. And one of those decisions has split her life in two. Literally. In one life, she’s taken hostage by someone who appears to be a stranger but knows too much. As she’s trapped in a concrete cell, her kidnapper forces her to face what she’s done or be killed. In an alternate life, she eludes her captor but is hunted by someone who is dismantling her happiness, exposing one secret at a time. Lila’s decorated career as a criminal defense attorney, her marriage, and her life are on the line. She must make a list of those she’s wronged—both in and out of the courtroom—to determine who is out to get her before it’s too late. But even if she can pinpoint her assailant, will she survive? And if she does, which parts of her life are worth saving, and which parts must die? Because one thing’s for certain—life as Lila Bennett knew it is over.

Oh how I love it when Liz Fenton and Lisa Steinke have a new book out. They write like they can see into each other's minds and their stories never cease to amaze me. Even though I knew who the kidnapper was I didn't know why or to what extent the reason was...and it didn't take anything away from enjoying this book.

This is a wonderfully constructed, plot driven, novel. I found this story(ies?) an entertaining and thought provoking read . If you are looking for deep character development and a beautiful literary writing style, look no further. If you want a read that not only leaves you thinking about the dynamics of working women, relationships, friendships and a whole host of deeper issues, this is a must read.

The story line(s) kept me enthralled right through to the end of book. The characters are so well developed I felt that I knew them personally and even though I didn't like most of them I really wanted to know what made them tick. This was the third book I've read by Fenton and Steinke and I so look forward to reading more by this wonderful writing team.

Thank you NetGalley, Liz Fenton, Lisa Steinke and Lake Union Publishing for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an impartial review; all opinions are my own.
