About the Book:
He collects his victims. But he doesn’t keep them safe. Elspeth, Meggie and Xavier are locked in a flat. They don’t know where they are, and they don’t know why they’re there. They only know that the shadow man has taken them, and he won’t let them go. Desperate to escape, the three of them must find a way out of their living hell, even if it means uncovering a very dark truth. Because the shadow man isn’t a nightmare. He’s all too real. And he’s watching.

My Review:
Helen Fields is a new author to me and I really enjoyed this book, on the strength of this one I will check out more of her work. I liked the way all the characters were portrayed , especially the female characters who were realistic , with no simpering and complete change of character whenever a male character is involved. I also liked the way the darker character was portrayed , chillingly normal in everyday situations but deadly in their crimes - as most serial killers turn out to be in real life.

It was also refreshing for the lead characters not to be a Maverick or have a long standing grudge against their colleagues or superior, which made for a good story with the different police departments working together to help solve the crimes. The writing kept me glued to the pages and the tension had me wanting to get to the end quickly to see how it all resolved...Highly recommend.
